About this file
This Request for Information (RFI) document is issued by CAL FIRE's Business Services Office (BSO) and Safety Program to gather technical information regarding fabric compositions for Structural Firefighting Protective Ensemble components. The RFI seeks specifications and product details for moisture barrier fabrics used in turnout coats and pants worn by CAL FIRE employees during emergency response operations. The RFI solicits information to support the development of procurement specifications and identify potential suppliers capable of meeting the required performance standards for these critical protective garments.
The document serves as an informational inquiry rather than a formal solicitation for bids or proposals. Respondents are expected to provide detailed technical specifications, material compositions, performance test data, and manufacturing capabilities related to moisture barrier fabrics that comply with applicable firefighting protective equipment standards. This RFI enables CAL FIRE to establish baseline requirements and evaluate the market availability of compliant products before proceeding with a formal procurement process for turnout coat and pant moisture barrier fabrics.
