ATTACHMENT A: QUESTIONS FOR PARTNER’S FEEDBACK

Background:

South Sudan has one of the youngest populations across the Sub-Saharan Africa region, with about 72 percent of the population under the age of 30. These youth are faced with a myriad of challenges: lack of education and skills; unemployment, mental and psychosocial health issues;

lack of business startup opportunities; high militarization, and violence. As a cross-cutting issue in the USAID South Sudan Strategic Framework 2020 -2024, positive youth engagement in the development plan and humanitarian response in South Sudan is critical. USAID South Sudan is dedicated to ensuring the development and empowerment of youth through programming of youth-focused activities in various sectors to improve long-term outcomes related to development, resilience, and social cohesion. USAID South Sudan is therefore seeking information related to organizing thematic youth camps that focus on:

(i) empowerment through enhancing literacy; enhancing livelihood and life skills; enhancing mental and psychosocial health; and

(ii) building social cohesion through peace-building activities that reduce distrust and conflicts among youths and the wider society.

Questions:

1. What is your organization’s background and experience in organizing youth camps?

2. What has been the focus of the camp and the outcomes? Please define the themes, activities, and expertise/coaches and teachers used to realize goals.

3. What are the types of camps – day or live-in?

4. What are the target youth groups and gender representation?

5. Where were activities conducted, and for how long were the camps?

6. What are the camp size and the related costs?

7. What other youth engagement activities is your organization involved in; which locations of the country?

8. Any other comments.
