About this file
This is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the City of Austin, specifically Austin Energy, seeking market research on software platforms for Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement training modules. The RFI, numbered RFI 1100 MTL6000, was issued on October 1, 2026, with responses due by November 2, 2026. Austin Energy is seeking information about flexible, module-based training platforms that can deliver Lean Six Sigma content including White, Yellow, Green, and Black Belt certifications, along with continuous improvement opportunities. The RFI is for informational and planning purposes only and does not constitute a formal solicitation for proposals, bids, or offers. Responses should be submitted to Annette.Fontaine@austinenergy.com and Michael.Adams@austinenergy.com.
Austin Energy currently provides in-house Lean Six Sigma training but lacks the bandwidth and resources to expand offerings due to limited instructor availability and classroom space constraints. Field personnel face difficulties attending in-person training sessions at remote locations, creating a need for an online platform solution. Respondents are invited to provide overview materials such as brochures, demo links, and screenshots describing their platform capabilities, including modular learning paths, integration with existing enterprise systems (Workday Learn, Learning Management Systems, HRIS), reporting and analytics features, customization options, hosting models (cloud or on-premises), data protection measures, implementation timelines, and general cost estimates. The City emphasizes that cost information provided will be used solely for preliminary market research and internal planning and does not constitute a binding price commitment. All submitted materials become public property subject to the Texas Open Records Act, and responses will not be evaluated for contract award purposes.

1.0 Purpose
Austin Energy (AE) is seeking information to better understand options available in the marketplace for software platforms that deliver flexible module-based training, structured content for Lean Six Sigma, and continuous improvement opportunities. This RFI is for informational and planning purposes only. It is not a solicitation and does not constitute a request for proposals, bids, quotations, or offers. The RFI does not create a contract, purchase order, or other commitment by the City to purchase any product or service.
Responses will not be used to select, rank, or award business to any respondent. The City may use information received to better understand the marketplace, identify commonly available approaches, inform internal planning, and support future business or technology discussions, as appropriate.
2.0 Background and Current Environment
Austin Energy is currently responsible for providing in-house Lean Six Sigma training. This is only a small part of our job duties. AE does not have the bandwidth to increase the number of cohorts we run due to instructor and classroom space availability. Field personnel also find it difficult to attend in-person learning at another site. Therefore, AE has a need for an online platform that can provide this training. Austin Energy is looking into online training options to make the courses easier for employees to access. AE may continue offering in-person classes or use them to supplement the online training, depending on what’s available.
3.0 Response Outline
Austin Energy welcomes a brief overview of your training platform and any relevant information about the solution and its capabilities, such as brochures, demo links, and screenshots. If available, please share information about your solution in the areas below.
These topics are intended to guide responses; vendors may focus on what is relevant to their platform and share existing materials.
