About this file

This document is a Highway Right of Way Utility Permit issued by the Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT), District 3 Office, for a utility installation project in Buena Vista County. The permit #11U-2025-001 authorizes the placement of a 42-inch tile crossing across highway IA 10, specifically located at Highway Station 400+00 (milepost 87.85). The project involves installing 120 feet of 42-inch diameter tile using trenchless construction methods, with work planned for Summer 2025. The permit is valid from 07-23-25 to 07-23-26 and requires the contractor to supply all labor, materials, and equipment for the installation.

The project specifications mandate that materials must meet specific requirements, including restrained joint ductile iron pipe, restrained joint PVC pipe, or steel casing pipe with a minimum wall thickness of 0.375 inches. The installation must follow the Iowa DOT's Standard Specifications for Highway and Bridge Construction Series 2015, Section 2553. Special attention is required to avoid damaging an existing 10-inch tile in the area, with the contractor responsible for any repairs at their own expense. The project includes traffic control requirements (TC-202) and must adhere to standard road plans for subdrain and tile line replacements, ensuring minimal disruption to existing drainage systems.

We will have 3000 feet of 24" and 5000 feet of 36". The pipe size at the road crossing will be 36" and the depth will be almost 9' on the north side and almost 8' on the south side. Stone owns both sides of the crossing. It will be 750 feet east of the driveway or 3000 feet west of M54.

On your map, can you provide sizes of tile that you are proposing. I will need that to size the size of pipe at crossing. What depth will you be at? I can get a list of the property owners off Beason, but will need to send you the permit for signatures of each property owner.
