About this file

This is a Response to Offeror Questions document from the South Dakota Department of Human Services regarding RFP #25RFP12137 for a Dietician Consultant position within the Adult Nutrition Program. The role requires approximately 50 hours per month to provide menu and dietary guidance, nutrition education, and informational materials for contracted providers serving older South Dakotans. The consultant will review menus for 14 current providers (with expected growth), provide malnutrition counseling, and create educational materials such as crosswords and word searches. All services can be performed remotely, with minimal travel required. The RFP submission requires an original and three copies delivered physically via courier or mail, with an electronic copy either emailed or included on a jump drive.

The incumbent consultant averaged 40 hours of work per month. The position does not have a non-compete clause unless there is an existing relationship with contracted adult nutrition providers. The consultant will maintain data via spreadsheet for federal reporting requirements, though federal reporting by the consultant is limited. The position is open to out-of-state candidates, and only one award will be made. Proposals will be evaluated based on criteria in Section 6 of the RFP, with consideration given to project locale familiarity and availability. Current challenges identified include food costs and consumer location issues.
