About this file

This is a Statement of Need for a filtration system upgrade at NOAA's Fairbanks Command and Data Acquisition Station. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) Office of Satellite Product Operations (OSPO) requires replacement of the current 30-mesh stacked plate filtration system serving the 21-meter antenna. The existing system cannot maintain stable oil temperatures during drastic temperature fluctuations and is unable to adequately remove moisture from gearbox oil, necessitating an upgrade to a 10-micron filtration system to reduce equipment maintenance.

The required deliverables include four Two Stage KL Panel Mounted Series Oil Filtration Systems (product number KLPM-2-208V/3-1KWILH-2/75), 24 units of 25-micron water absorbent filter canisters with micro glass absolute rated media (TT75S-8-25CWAB), 24 units of 10-micron absolute rated micro glass particulate filter canisters (TT75S-8-10B), one ¾ HP 208V, 1200 RPM 145TC TEFC motor, and two KF-10-RF pumps with integral pressure relief. Delivery must be made to the Fairbanks Command and Data Acquisition Station located at 1300 Eisele Road, Fairbanks, AK, within 30 days after receipt of order (ARO).

STATEMEN T OF NEED

FAIRBANKS 21M ANTENNA FILTRATION

INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) Office of Satellite Product Operations (OSPO) has a requirement for a filtration system for the 21m antenna located at the Fairbanks Command and Data Acquisition Station (FCDAS) in Fairbanks, AK. The current filtration system features a 30-mesh stacked plate design which cannot support drastic fluctuations in temperature while maintaining stable oil temperatures. The 30-mesh design is unable to properly remove moisture content from the oil used in the gearboxes.

SCOPE OF WORK

To upgrade the current Filtration System at FCDAS to support the 21m Antennas in order to filter at a rate of IO microns, filter excess moisture from oil, and provide cleaner oil to the gearboxes to reduce equipment maintenance.
