Text version
Requirements must purchase a test apparatus that satisfies the following criteria:
The unit must:
o Detect, measure, and record near-field emissions off cables and components o Allow for programmable locations or sweeps to scan near-field emissions o Overlay measured and recorded data on image of device under test o Provide a contour plot of emitted EM field o Provide EM field amplitude at measure positions o Measure and record a heat map of the device under test o Have a minimum programmable step size of 1 mm +/- 0.5 mm o Have a measurement volume of at least 20x15x15 inches (HxLxW) o Have means to inject RF energy onto a localized area no larger than 5x5 mm o Allow power of 30 dBm or greater into localized RF injection o Allow user to define component faults or failures for immunity analysis o Be self-contained, but allow communication and data transfer to Windows Operating
System laptops/desktops o Permit both pulsed and continuous wave injection
These requirements allow personnel to measure EMC and thermal responses through BCI testing. The resolution allows personnel to evaluate specific components determined to be critical in the target’s operation. The unit’s ability to measure and record the responses allows personnel to analyze the lethality data quickly. Automated and programmable locations or sweeps allows personnel to measure responses in specific areas, at specific components, and without the need for direct and constant supervision. Allows personnel to inject localized EM field on specific components. Allows personnel to define a failure and record that failure for future analysis as a function of injected waveform parameters and injection site.
