About this file
This is a required specifications document for an ultrapure water system procurement by the Department of the Navy Naval Supply Systems Command under solicitation N0018926QL274. The system must be capable of producing Type I water that meets the stringent purity requirements necessary for use in Inductively-Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES) and Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC) analysis applications. Type I water specifications typically require resistivity of 18.2 megohms-cm or greater, total organic carbon content below 5 ppb, and absence of particulates and ionic contaminants that would compromise analytical instrument performance.
The procurement seeks a complete ultrapure water system solution suitable for laboratory analytical operations. Prospective contractors should ensure their proposed systems meet all specified water quality parameters and are compatible with the demanding requirements of both ICP-OES instrumentation and DOC analysis methodologies. The system should include appropriate pretreatment, purification, and storage components to maintain water quality standards throughout the system.

REQUIRED SPECIFICATIONS
1. To support its academic mission of educating undergraduate U.S. Navy Midshipmen and conducting sponsored research in the field of chemical oceanography, the Department of Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences at the United States Naval Academy (USNA) requires an ultrapure water system.
The ultrapure water system will be capable of producing Type I water suitable for use in Inductively-Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometry (ICP-OES) and Dissolved Organic Carbon (DODC) with the following minimum characteristics: Resistivity:
per billion); Bacteria: < 1 CFU/mL (colony-forming units); and
2. System Technical Specifications and Requirements: The Ultrapure Water System will be capable of producing Type 2 for storage in a holding tank between 20-30 L. The tank will have a vent filter with CO2 absorbent to prevent airborne contamination and will recirculate water automatically through a UV lamp to maintain purity. The UV lamp will be mercury-free.
The system will purify Type II water for point of dispensing (POD) of Type 1 water at a rate 2L/minute or greater. Daily output will be 100L/day or greater. Power will be 120 VAC, 60 Hz. System will come with a remote dispensing wand. A full set of filters and a set a set of spare filters will be supplied with the system. The system will come with all connectors and accessories required for installation and operation. All freight charges and shipping will be included in system cost. System delivery will come with a minimum of 1 day of vendor support for installation and training for 3 or more users.
