Text version

Required Specifications/Salient Characteristics:

• System must be able to Hold 60 1” x 3” slides or 30 2” x 3” slides using three slide cassettes. 1” x 3” and 2” x 3” cassettes can be mixed within one batch scan.

• The instrument must have a small footprint, so it can be installed on lab bench top. 27”W x 27.5”H x 27.0”D

• System must offer multiple focus point placement automatically or manually, within one tissue section, for highly accurate image quality.

• System must Automatically or manually create multiple topographical focus map regions with multiple focus point placement for accurate automatic scanning of varying sizes of tissues or samples.

• System must do an automated Focus Check to automatically score the focus quality of your image.

• System must have an internal calibration slide for brightfield scanning, housed in dedicated internal slide holder, eliminating dropped or lost calibration slide. Slide is used for both size and color calibration and allows accurate comparison of images collected on different days or years.

• System must Offer user selectable automatic system calibration. System will automatically and periodically recalibrate to ensure the best image quality day after day.

• The slide scanner must use sCMOS detector technology for brightfield scanning, providing high speed acquisition and true color fidelity.

• The Instrument must be field upgradable to add fluorescence capability to acquire bright field and high signal to noise fluorescence scans within a single scan.

• Extremely accurate XY stage movement. Offers fast image formation without image artifact. When the scan is completed, there is no time delay in displaying the image.

• The Focal working distance should be approximately 1000 microns when scanning at 20x and 40x magnifications.

• Scanning speed of 60 seconds for a 15mmx15mm area in bright field at 20x magnification.

• Scanning speed of 150 seconds for a 15mmx15mm area in bright field at 40x magnification.

• The software and hardware must allow the user to add slides to batch scan without stopping scanning process.

• Offer the ability to immediately scan priority emergency slides during batch scan, then continue with batch scan without restarting.

• Image Analysis Software requirements o Available in both PC and MAC o All images are able to be viewed remotely via the internet o Ability for multiple users to simultaneously access the same images

• 20X objective; 20x or 40x magnification choice at a minimum
