About this file
This is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the Air Force Materiel Command's Control and Reporting Center (CRC) Program Office seeking potential substitute heat exchangers for the AN/TPS-75 radar system. The RFI targets a heat exchanger that can cool critical radar components including a pulse forming network, focus coil, twystron body, twystron collector, and SF6 tank, with specific technical requirements such as using 60% ethylene glycol coolant, being forklift transportable, capable of outdoor operation, and able to function without supervision for up to 4 hours.
Interested vendors are requested to provide detailed company information, equipment data sheets, cost estimates, and lead times by August 13, 2025. The initial purchase is planned during USAF Fiscal Year 2025, with delivery expected during FY26 (starting October 2025). Responses should be submitted electronically to the Contracting Officer, limited to 5 single-sided pages excluding product data sheets, with proprietary information clearly marked. The RFI emphasizes that this is an information-gathering exercise only and does not constitute a commitment to procurement.

AN/TPS-75 3D Radar Sustainment Support for Control and Reporting Center (CRC) Program Office (AFLCMC/HBZI) at Hill AFB, Utah
REQUEST FOR INFORMATION (RFI)
1. Description
1.1. The Control and Reporting Center (CRC) Program Office is seeking information on a suitable substitute for TPS-75 radar system heat exchanger, which functions as a chiller for the transmitter compartment equipment. This heat exchanger would cool a pulse forming network, focus coil, twystron body, twystron collector, and SF6 tank within the TPS-75 radar. The PMO is seeking heat exchangers for initial use to support depot maintenance operations, then CONUS unit locations, and eventually distributed for mission operational use once reliability and performance are proven. Manufacturer maintenance support of field level repair of the provided equipment would be sought separately. The potential duration of the effort would encompass a period of 5 years.
1.2. A fully integrated solution will incorporate filtration and purification of the cooling loop. If the proposed solution does not incorporate adequate coolant purification equipment, the PMO will install legacy filtration and purification equipment in-line to cover the need.
1.3. Requirements
1.3.1. Objective requirements are sought but not a essential feature of a solution
1.3.2. Threshold requirements are critical to a solution being considered viable

2. Background
2.1. The AN/TPS-75 radar system is an “S” band, mobile, tactical, transportable ground radar system capable of rapidly detecting and identifying airborne targets within a 240-nautical-mile area. The system is hardened against ECM and has ECCM capabilities as well as the ability to “burn through” most types of jamming. It provides a "real-time" radar airspace picture and data in support of the Joint Force Air Component Commander (JFACC). This decades old Radar system can be and is now deployed in support of worldwide wartime operations and national security missions. The AN/TPS- 75 radar system must endure movement by truck, air or rail. This system serves as the AF’s primary deployable, long range surveillance radar providing tactical Battle Management Command and Control (BMC2) data supporting the JFACC in all manner of operational situations. System Operational Availability (Ao) has declined since the mid ‘90’s due to aging system components based upon 1960’s technology (TPS-43 fielded in the 1950’s, with the only major tech-refresh being an upgraded antenna and solid state receiver group in the ‘80’s which then re-designated the system “TPS-75”) and DMSMS (obsolescence) issues.
