About this file
This Request for Information (RFI) seeks detailed technical and operational insights about an F-16 Boresight System from potential vendors. The Air Force Materiel Command Lifecycle Management Center at Robins Air Force Base is collecting information about a boresight system that must operate in temperatures ranging from 35°F to 120°F, with specific requirements including aircraft-specific fixtures that attach to existing alignment points without modifying the aircraft. Key questions focus on technology readiness level (TRL), current fielding status, cross-platform utilization, system availability for competitive evaluation, developmental testing timelines, calibration requirements, and operational capabilities.
The RFI requests vendors provide comprehensive details about their F-16 Boresight System, including current deployment with military organizations, ability to provide units for fly-off events within 60-90 days, developmental testing readiness, production unit delivery timelines, and temperature range compliance. Vendors are asked to confirm their system's technology maturity (TRL 6 or higher), explain calibration procedures, demonstrate operational capabilities for complete aircraft boresighting, and address potential modifications to meet temperature requirements. Responses are due by close of business on 09 October 2025, with the goal of selecting a system for potential contract award based on detailed technical and operational performance criteria.

Request for Information (RFI): F-16 Boresight System Environmental and Operational Capability
1. Technology Readiness Level (TRL) Do you have a complete F-16 Boresight System at TRL 6 or higher that includes currently fabricated fixtures as specified in PD24WRWNZEC004?
3.2.2 Fixtures The contractor shall furnish complete F-16 aircraft boresight fixtures, as detailed and necessary for mounting on the different sub-systems of the aircraft. The boresight system shall include aircraft-specific fixtures that attach to specific alignment points already established on the aircraft. No aircraft modification shall be allowed. Fixtures shall include all associated hardware necessary for proper performance of the boresight system.
2. Fielding Status Is your F-16 Boresight System currently fielded with any U.S. or international military organizations? If so, please identify the customer(s), the scope of deployment, and any relevant operational feedback or performance data available.
3. Cross-Platform Utilization Is your boresight system currently used on aircraft platforms other than the F-16? If so, please specify which aircraft, the nature of integration, and identify the customer(s) or program(s) where it is fielded or in use.
4. Fly-Off Unit Availability Will you be able to provide an F-16 Boresight System unit for participation in the fly-off event—a competitive source selection evaluation where candidate systems are demonstrated under operational conditions—within 60–90 days after the close of the RFP?
5. Developmental Testing (DT) Readiness If awarded a contract, how many calendar months from award date would it take to deliver two units ready for DT?
6. DT duration What is your estimated duration for DT, including setup, data analysis, and any corrective actions?
7. Production unit delivery post-test approval Upon successful completion and approval of all testing, how many calendar months would it take to deliver the first production unit?
8. Calibration Requirements Please explain the calibration requirements for your F-16 Boresight System. Include details on calibration frequency, procedures, required equipment, environmental constraints, and whether calibration can be performed in the field or requires depot-level support.
9. Operational Capability Is your F-16 Boresight System currently capable of performing a complete boresight of an F-16 aircraft, including confidence check and boresighting?
10. F-16 aircraft support equipment must be engineered to operate reliably across the full spectrum of global environmental conditions. This includes extreme temperature conditions in different regions. To ensure mission readiness and operational effectiveness, all support systems must maintain consistent performance under these extreme temperature conditions.
As specified in PD24WRWNZEC004, the temperature requirement for the F-16 boresight system is:
3.8.1 Operating Temperature Range The boresight system shall be capable of performing confidence check and boresighting in ambient temperatures ranging from 35º F to 120º F.
Compliance Confirmation Does your F-16 Boresight System fully meet the operating temperature requirements outlined above?
If the answer to Question 1 is No, please address the following:
11. Verified Temperature Range Provide the verified operational temperature range of your F-16 Boresight System.
12. Validation Methodology Describe the type of validation or testing used to support the temperature data provided.
13. Modification Potential Is your system capable of meeting the 35º F to 120º F operating temperature requirement with modifications?
14. Production Capability Under Objective/Threshold Allowance If an objective/threshold allowance were granted for the source selection fly-off event—a competitive source selection evaluation where candidate systems are demonstrated under operational conditions—, would your system be capable of meeting the 35º F to 120º F objective in production if selected for contract award?
15. Limitation Explanation If not, explain the reason(s) why the objective cannot be met.
