About this file
This Request for Information (RFI) 671-22-179 concerns installing devices for Legionella control and prevention at a VA facility. Key requirements include flushing protocols for different plumbing scenarios (faucets, dead legs, flush valves) with minimal testing needed, and potential after-hours work in critical clinical areas. The project involves coordinating local area outages with the VA Contracting Officer Representative (COR) 7-10 days in advance, with work hours determined by the VA to minimize disruptions to patient care. Regarding tax implications, the project is exempt from Texas Sales and Use taxes for construction materials incorporated into VA property, with contractors required to complete a Texas Sales and Use Tax Exemption Certificate. Contractors must also review materials for potential asbestos and report any suspected materials, though asbestos is not expected in the work locations. Seasonal flu vaccination will be the only medical requirement for onsite staff and subcontractors.
