About this file
This Statement of Work (SOW) outlines requirements for replacing filter media in two arsenic absorbent vessels in a potable water system at Luke AFB, Arizona, Buildings 1396 & 1397, managed by the 56th Civil Engineer Squadron.
The contractor must remove existing filter media and sand using vacuum equipment, taking care not to damage the porous plate system, and install 754 cubic feet of Granular Ferric Hydroxide (GFH) or equivalent/superior filter media per manufacturer specifications. Work must be completed within 30 days of contract award, with operations beginning no earlier than 0700. Only one filter can be replaced at a time, with operational testing required before starting work on the second filter. After installation, the contractor must perform startup and initial backwash procedures, with base personnel preparing an evaporation pond for backwash material. The water plant NCOIC will approve and accept all work, and any deviations from the SOW require written approval from the Contracting Officer.
