About this file

This is a comprehensive bid packet for the City of Craig, Colorado, seeking to purchase a new Refuse Department Cab and Chassis with an Automated Side Load Refuse Collection Body. The bid solicitation is for a complete truck system, including a detailed cab and chassis with specific technical requirements and a side load refuse collection body with extensive operational specifications. Bids are due on Tuesday, April 29th, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the City Hall Council Chambers, with the bid award scheduled for the May 13th City Council meeting. The city is also offering a trade-in option for a 2010 Peterbilt truck with a LaBrie side load refuse collection body, and notably stipulates that only truck bodies previously demonstrated to the City of Craig will be considered for the bid.

The bid packet includes comprehensive technical specifications for both the cab/chassis and the refuse body, covering detailed requirements for components such as engine, transmission, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, lifting mechanisms, and paint specifications. Bidders are required to provide precise compliance information for each specification, with options to meet, exceed, or deviate from the listed requirements. The city is seeking a new, current model year truck that meets municipal heavy-duty operation standards, with specific warranty requirements including a minimum of 12 months parts and labor warranty for the cab and chassis, and extended warranty options for various components like engine, transmission, and emission systems. The bid emphasizes the need for a robust, efficient refuse collection vehicle that can handle 300-gallon plastic refuse containers and operate effectively in a municipal setting.
