This is a Performance Work Statement (PWS) for the manufacture, delivery, and installation of heat shielding components on an ITS Car Bottom Furnace at Norfolk Naval Shipyard.

Scope and Deliverables: The contractor shall provide all labor, materials, tooling, and supervision to design and install insulated stainless steel heat shields protecting critical furnace components from excessive heat during door operations. The four major heat shield components required are: door mast heat shield (protecting door lift cylinder, safety lock-out cylinders, bearings, and grease lines), lift seal cylinder heat shields (individual units for cart seal-raising cylinders), cart drive heat shield, and cart power reel heat shield.

Contractor and Shipyard Responsibilities: The vendor is responsible for shipping equipment, re-assembly of components removed for shipping, field painting with standard colors and touch-up work, and electrical field wiring between equipment and remote-control panels including all conduit and wire. Norfolk Naval Shipyard assumes responsibility for equipment unloading, clearing pathways and work areas, site preparation and cleaning, pre-installation notifications and training coordination, provision of plant PPE requirements, assigning a customer site manager, and assisting with unloading and handling. Safety and Access Requirements: All contractor personnel must comply with Federal and State OSHA requirements, Norfolk Naval Shipyard OSHE Program Manual, NAVSHIPYDNORINST P5090.2 requirements, and OSHE Control Manual (OSHECM) requirements.
