About this file

This document is a Salient Characteristics specification for an Armorbloks Modular Armor System federal contract opportunity. The contractor must provide a modular, scalable, and reconfigurable ballistic protection system available in two primary configurations: freestanding blocks for constructing new structures and panels for retrofitting existing structures. The required quantities include 225 units of 16" square freestanding blocks compliant with all levels of UL 752 Edition 12, 75 floor/ground mounting assemblies, and 75 corner assemblies.

The system must meet stringent performance and compliance requirements, including ballistic protection compliant with all UL 752 levels and proven capability to defeat threats up to and including .50 caliber M33 ball ammunition and armor-piercing rounds. Steel components must comply with MIL-DTL-46100 standards. General system characteristics require modularity for creating freestanding structures including walls, corners, floors, and ceilings; single-person installation using only a screwdriver; disassembly and reconfiguration capabilities; and portability with thin design suitable for air-drop deployment. Freestanding blocks must feature a three-layer construction comprising a steel strike plate, ballistic fiberglass core, and steel back plate with total thickness less than one inch. Retrofit panels must fit within standard 16" stud spacing and be available in multiple steel thicknesses of at least 3.5mm, 6mm, and 10.5mm to address different threat levels. All products require liquid painted matte black coating and virtually infinite shelf-life. The Contracting Officer is Alex Cheatham, signed on 8/4/2026.
