About this file
This document is a Memorandum for Record detailing the justification for limiting competition for a contract to provide scheduled and unscheduled repair, maintenance, and calibration services for one government-owned Medtronic Stealth Station S8 medical device used during spine surgery. The contracting activity is the Fort Cavazos Health Contracting Branch, which plans to award a sole-source contract to Medtronic USA, the manufacturer of the equipment, for a base period of one year and up to four one-year option periods, with a total estimated value of $114,537.50. Market research determined that Medtronic is the only source reasonably available to provide the required proprietary maintenance services, as the medical center's in-house staff lacks the necessary capabilities. The contract will be awarded under the simplified acquisition threshold procedures.
