About this file

This document is a Sole Source Justification for a new Firm Fixed Price contract to provide 3D printer maintenance for the Defense Microelectronics Activity's (DMEA) additive manufacturing laboratory. The purpose is to obtain 3D printer maintenance for two printers, as the printers are out of calibration and overdue for maintenance, which could impact critical rapid prototyping efforts.

DMEA has utilized Engitype, an authorized maintenance provider for the OEM 3D printer manufacturers, for the past 5-10 years to provide maintenance, repairs, and support for their 3D printers. Engitype is familiar with DMEA's systems and has provided superior service. The total estimated value of the contract is undisclosed. DMEA did not solicit competition, citing their previous relationship with Engitype and Engitype's status as the authorized maintenance provider. The Contracting Officer has determined the anticipated cost to be fair and reasonable based on the Independent Government Estimate and previous purchases.
