About this file
This is a prevailing wage inquiry email related to the City of Santa Monica's Purchase and Delivery of Propane Fuel contract for the Fleet Management Division. The email addresses questions regarding the applicability of prevailing wage requirements to the proposed propane fuel supply and delivery contract. The inquiry seeks clarification on whether prevailing wage obligations apply to vendors furnishing and delivering propane fuel to city vehicles, as this determination affects bidding requirements and labor cost estimations for potential respondents.
The prevailing wage question is significant because it impacts the overall project costs and compliance obligations for bidders. If prevailing wage requirements apply, vendors must pay workers in accordance with the Davis-Bacon Act or California Prevailing Wage Law, depending on the funding source and contract classification. The resolution of this prevailing wage question is essential for potential bidders to accurately prepare their proposals and understand their labor cost obligations under the contract.

You don't often get email from jennifer.villeda@santamonica.gov. Learn why this is important
Hello Ryan, Yes, I can clarify. So the installation is a simple fastening of the tank over a concrete slab above ground. See the picture below for reference.

The installation process will possibly trigger prevailing wage. Can you or the contractor clarify what is involved in the “installation” process? For example, will they be fastening the tank to the ground or a fixed wall? (drilling holes, mounting brackets, etc).
