About this file
This is an Overhaul Description document for a Trip Assembly Overspeed component used on a 270 WMEC ALCO Engine. The item is identified as National Stock Number 2815-01-606-2548, Part Number 2500515, and the Government has established a cost estimate not to exceed $19,517.
The contractor must conduct a preliminary inspection within 30 days of receipt and submit a Condition Report and Cost Proposal documenting the part number, NSN, serial number, required repairs, individually priced replacement parts, labor rates, labor hours, and total service estimate including shipping container costs. All repairs must restore the overspeed trip to OEM specifications using Fairbanks Morse Engine Division specifications and genuine Fairbanks Morse parts, with the carrier set-up configured for 1100 RPM. A final inspection/assembly report detailing all OEM design dimensions and clearances must be submitted with out-of-tolerance dimensions highlighted and accompanied by waiver requests justifying acceptability without compromising function or performance.
The item will be preserved and individually wrapped for protection against deterioration for two years minimum and packed in a wooden box marked with the NSN (2815-01-606-2548), item name (Trip Assembly, Overspeed), part number (2500515), government order number, and designation as "Coast Guard SFLC Material, Condition A." The contractor must provide a 90-day defect-free warranty following installation with coverage extending up to two years after delivery to the Coast Guard. Government acceptance will occur at destination upon verification of no transit damage, order correctness and completeness, and contractor compliance with preservation and packaging requirements. Fairbanks Morse Defense (Beloit, Wisconsin) is identified as the recommended source.
