Questions and Answers to Solicitation R16PS01744 Geomechanical and Flow Modeling:

Q. Can you clarify the expectation for the model:

a. One large 3D model encompassing all the potential injection well locations, or

b. Separate near well models for each chosen well location, or

c. Both A. There is a single region of interest (ROI), so the key model boundaries and properties likely will be the same. It is expected the models used for each well to have greater resolution near the particular well being modeled. It is expected that distant model boundaries may need to be adjusted beyond the ROI to avoid artifacts.

Q. The modelers are concerned that building and calibrating the model will take a substantial amount of time given they have never seen the data and do not know the form the data will be received in, if interpretation will be required on any of the data and the amount of data expected. Can you provide more information on the data to be received?

A. The data provided by Reclamation, is all detailed in section 2.1.1.1.1.

Q. In Para 2.1.1.1.2, how many test runs will be required. Number of tests will dictate how much time is needed keeping in mind the model run time.

A. The number of runs will be determined by the contractor-proposed validation and quality-assurance process.

Q. As per Para 2.1.1.2, the statement,” (the contractor) shall work with reclamation to refine model properties as necessary to better match the observed data” This is an iterative process for which duration cannot be accurately estimated or at least cannot be performed within time frame allocated in the S.O. R16PS01744. Is it expected to fall within the 90 day POP?

A. It is expected that the number of iterations will be small given the appraisal-level of the analysis. The POP has been extended by 30 days, which should provide adequate time for any iterations required.
