GROUNDS MAINTENANCE SERVICES
BLACKWOOD, NJ
Question 1: Was line item 0004 Spring and Fall Cleanup. 5.4.4 Spring and Fall Cleanup task part of the previous contract?
Response 1: No
Question 2: Was line item 0005 Retention Ponds. 5.4.5 Maintain Retention Ponds task part of the previous contract?
Response 2: No
Question 3: The retention ponds have large trees growing inside of the fences. The clearing says 2.5" diameter trees (at 4 above ground) need to be removed. Please confirm that anything over 2.5" will remain or be discussed as additional work.
Response 3: Fence line shall be cleared of all overgrowth, vegetation and saplings up to 2.5” in diameter for a width of up to 10 feet on each side of the fence within the Government’s property line. Overhang of branches shall be trimmed up to a height of 8 feet.
Question 4: Does the debris cleared inside and around the retention ponds need to be removed off site?
Response 4: YES
Question 5: Are the fences around the retention ponds (6 retention ponds) are to be included in the one time fence clearing. Base year only.?
Response 5: The fences around the ponds are to be cleared under the Base Year 1 time fence clearing.
Question 6. Was line item 0006 One time fence clearing 5.4.6 One time fence clearing Base year only task part of the previous contract?
Response 6: No
Question 7: This is only cleared one time during the base year. Does the debris cleared off the fence need to be removed off site?
Response 7: YES
Question 8: Are the fences around the retention ponds (6 retention ponds) to be included in the one time fence clearing. Base year only?
Response 8: YES
Question 9: Clearing the fences base year will not keep them cleared for the remaining 4 years of this contract. Does the contractor have to keep them cleared for the remaining years for free?
Response 9: According to the Grounds Maintenance Map the fences are to be trimmed (5.4.3) once per month and cleared during the Spring & Fall cleanup (5.4.4). After the initial Base Year Clearing the minimal cost for maintaining the fence lines shall be included between Line items 5.4.3 and 5.4.4.
Question 10: Are the many large trees next to the left side, back corner of the retention pond (adjacent to the motor pool) have to be cut 10 feet off of the retention pond fence? The bases are well over 2.5 " diameter (4' off the ground) and will fall into the 10 feet of clearing. Do they need to be trimmed back only? And not to destroy the appearance of the trees or touch the trunks of the trees.
