About this file
This is a Questions and Answers document addressing Wire EDM (Electrical Discharge Machine) consumables and feedstock requirements for CCAD (likely a government facility or contractor).
The document clarifies two key requirements for the 3-Year Comprehensive Consumable and Feedstock Package. First, rather than shipping three years' worth of consumables at one time, the buyer will receive a credit voucher structure allowing CCAD to order spools of wire, filters, and power contacts on an as-needed basis. This approach addresses product shelf-life concerns, particularly for wire spools which have approximately one year shelf life, ensuring CCAD maintains access to fresh products for optimal equipment performance. Second, the buyer confirmed that CCAD will source DI (Deionized) resin bottles through a locally sourced vendor such as Culligan or Mueller rather than through the primary contractor, leveraging cost-effective local bottle exchange services available in the CCAD area.

Questions and Answers Wire EDM
1. It states “3-Year Comprehensive Consumable and feedstock Package”. I’m not sure what “feedstock” is in reference to. The primary consumables on the wire EDM are going to be spools of wire, filters, power contacts, and DI resin bottles. If this line item is requesting to ship three year’s worth of consumables at one time my concern would be for the aging product. Especially when it comes to spools of wire, they have a shelf life of approximately one year. It would be best to set you up with a credit voucher so you can simply call in and get the consumables you need, when you need them. This way you’ll always have fresh product for the best performance.
Response: Please provide a 3-year package typically set up as a credit voucher for spools of wire, filters, and power contacts that CCAD can pull from as needed.
2. It was previously discussed and recommended that you locally source the DI resin bottles with a company such as Culligan or Mueller. These companies are local to CCAD and offer a much more cost-effective solution for resin bottle exchanges. Please confirm you will be using a local company for this.
Response: CCAD will be going with a locally sourced option for DI resin bottle exchange.
