About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) Invitation to Bid (ITB) for Two-Way Radios, specifically solicitation 25/26-004. The Q&A provides clarification on several key aspects of the radio procurement, including digital licensing, warranty terms, and equipment specifications. DJJ is seeking Motorola two-way radios, with a strong preference for original Motorola equipment and no specific estimated purchase quantity, indicating they will order radios as needed across the state.

The Q&A reveals that DJJ wants CP100D radios with digital licenses to match their MOTOTRBO programming, despite initial analog-only descriptions. The department is open to a standard two-year warranty and will allow contractors to perform service requirements in their own shop rather than at each detention center. While the solicitation might typically allow for equivalent products, DJJ explicitly states a preference to stick with Motorola radios and original Motorola accessories. The document suggests flexibility in procurement while maintaining specific technical and brand requirements.

Questions and Answers for DJJ – ITB- Two-Way Radios 25/26 -004

1. Are there any estimated purchase quantities that can be assumed from this contract? Unfortunately, I do not have an estimate. We order them as needed around the state.

2. It is assumed that the third entry and description of the CP100D will have a digital license in the radio for digital programming to match the DJJ MOTOTRBO programming, correct? Even though the description says analog only, it must be digital to match the DJJ programming. Yes, each Center has a digital license

3. Also, in the third entry and description of the CP100D, you refer to a three (3) year warranty. Motorola offers only 2 years parts and labor warranty on their radios. Do you want a third year of warranty for that digital radio? 2-year warranty would be fine with us.

4. Can any service requirements be done in our shop or does it have to be done locally to each Detention Center? Can be done in shop

5. It is also believed that contractor can bid an alternate “equivalent “product as long as it meets the minimum specifications…. correct? DJJ would like to stick with Motorola if possible

6. We are in receipt of the above-mentioned solicitation and did not notice if this was a brand-specific opportunity or if you are accepting equivalent non-Motorola options DJJ would like to stick with Motorola.

7. Are you requiring original Motorola equipment for the accessories.

Yes, Motorola original equipment for the accessories.
