About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers file for RFB # SP-21-233 related to University of Wisconsin Oshkosh's request to update existing front panels on three campus monument signs. The project involves replacing the front panels of monument signs to match the design standards established at UWO Fox Cities and Fond du Lac campuses. The new monument sign front panels are to be non-illuminated faces with opaque vinyl graphics and shall be rectangular in shape. The existing sign cabinets are to remain in place, with front panel replacements made on-site. All necessary mounting materials must be provided to fasten the new face panels into the existing cabinet. A continuous black angle frame is acceptable for securing the acrylic sign panel, and the half-round area at the top of the cabinet must be filled with a solid black aluminum panel to match the cabinet. The vendor is responsible for providing all installation and mounting hardware.
If the new faces are attached with adhesive, the installation must be warrantied for the lifetime of the product. The Gold Nugget border outline previously used on the signs is no longer required as it does not align with the new logo. All inquiries regarding the bid must be directed to Susan Poff at UW Oshkosh Facilities Management Purchasing, with contact information provided at 920-410-6102 or poffs@uwosh.edu.

VENDOR QUESTIONS/ANSWERS
1. QUESTION…. The existing faces are routed aluminum backed with polycarb with vinyl on them, the background does not light, but the lettering shows through and lights.
The new request talks about what background for "ambient internal light".
To have the faces light white, we would need to supply and install new retainers onto the signs and install new flat polycarbonate faces with two color vinyl.
The other option is new routed aluminum faces produced the same way as the existing, however the white background would therefore be painted aluminum and not lit. We could put perforated vinyl on the black lettering for black by day, white at night appearance.
Can you please clarify which style you would like quoted?
ANSWER: New monument sign front panels to be non-illuminated faces and opaque vinyl graphics. These shall match the monument signs at the UWO Fox Cities and Fond du Lac campuses. Provide all necessary mounting materials to fasten new face panels into existing cabinet.
2. QUESTION….The existing signs do not have exposed hardware. Are the new faces to be installed with adhesive over the frame, same as the existing signs so that hardware is not seen?
ANSWER: If the new faces are attached with adhesive, the installation will need to be warrantied for the lifetime of the product. Narrow profile continuous angles are permitted if all materials are painted black to match the cabinet.
3. QUESTION…. Is the curved area that extends above the square corners at the top of the sign to staying as is?

4. QUESTION…. The signs will be removed temporarily to make the required changes. Can they all be removed at the same time?

5. QUESTION…. Will a 2” x 2” (Black) aluminum angle frame be acceptable for securing acrylic sign panel to the existing frame?
ANSWER: A continuous black angle frame would be acceptable.
6. QUESTION…. Do you still want the 2” Gold Nugget border outline?
ANSWER: This border will no longer be used as it is not part of the new logo.
7. QUESTION…. The signs currently have a routed aluminum face (meaning the background stays black and only the cut out letters light). For the new faces, would you like the white background to light or install another routed face, where only the letters light? (The black text could be done in a perforated vinyl, so it is black during the day and white at night.)
ANSWER: The new monument sign front panels are to be non-illuminated faces and opaque vinyl graphics. These need to match the monument signs at the UWO Fox Cities and Fond du Lac campuses. Provide all necessary mounting materials to fasten new face panels into existing cabinet.
