About this file

This is a Questions and Answers document related to a Gas Chromatograph procurement (GovTribe ID: 80ec8453548a3045ea9f261065b859d3). The solicitation seeks a gas chromatograph system for a new analytical process to measure ethylene and propane via headspace analysis for reaeration studies in rivers and streams. The equipment represents a new capability for the procuring entity, as similar analyses were last performed approximately two decades ago. No specific delivery date has been established for the equipment. The procurement allows flexibility in analytical technology selection, including FID, TCD, MSD, or PDHID detectors, provided the system can perform the necessary functions outlined in the bid specifications. The procuring entity prioritizes analysis time and budget constraints as key evaluation criteria and is willing to permit deviations from standard methods provided the results are scientifically defensible.

Software is a required component of the solution, though the procuring entity will utilize existing computer resources rather than requiring new hardware such as a PC, monitor, or printer. The instrument will not require integration with a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) or specialized calculation or physical property software. Carrier gas selection and data handling software specifications remain to be determined. The procurement is flexible regarding compliance with industry standards such as ASTM, ISO, UOP, or GPA methods, with no in-house methods currently specified. Sample frequency and budget limitations are stated considerations in the vendor's solution development.

Gas Chromatograph 190000002857 Questions

Q. What is the delivery date required for the equipment?

A. No Date Specified

Q.Do you currently perform analysis? What analytical technique is used? Are there any areas you would like to improve your current technique?
A.This will be a new process for us. Similar studies were performed two decades ago using a gas chromatograph to measure ethylene and propane via headspace analysis.
Q.Will the new instrument be replacing or matching a GC? If so, please describe the current instrument and provide methods, chromatograms, and the Wasson serial number (if original system is from Wasson -ECE)
A.New Instrument
Q.What analytical technology would you prefer for your solution? (FID, TCD, MSD, PDHID, etc.)
A.Any technology that is able to perform the necessary tasks listed in the bid specs.
Q.Should the analysis be complaint to any in-house or regulatory methods? (ASTM, ISO, UOP, GPA, etc.) If in-house method is required, please include a copy of the method.
A.N/A
Q.In order to optimize the chromatography is it acceptable to deviate from the standard method or is strict compliance required?
A.It is ok to deviate as long as the results are defensible.

Q. What is the desired carrier gas? Please note that some standard methods do not permit alternative carrier gases. Also note that the carrier gas will default either to helium or the carrier defined by the required method. Nitrogen carrier gas is the default for a TCD measuring helium and/or hydrogen.

A. N/A

Q.Which date handling software and version will this instrument be used with?
A.Unknown at this time.
Q.Is date handling software, PC, monitor, and/or printer required?
A.Software will be required; existing computer resources will be utilized.
Q.Wil the instrument be integrated into a LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System)? If yes, please describe the hardware and/or date requirements for system integration?
A.No
Q.Is any calculation or physical property software required? If so, please specify what is required.
A.No
Q.Do you have any key criteria that the solution needs to achieve?
A.Analysis time, budget limit, sample frequency.
Q.Please clearly define any additional informant or special requirement that Wasson-ECE should be aware of; please use additional pages or drawing as necessary.
A.Gas chromatograph should be able to measure ethylene or propane via headspace analysis to perform reaeration studies in rivers and streams.
