Foreign Affairs Information Technology (FAIT) Fellowship Program
NOFO SFOP0005805
June 05, 2019
FAIT: Q and A
Question: Calculating 20 applicants starting in Sept.2020 cost approx. $47,000 x 20 =
$940,000/year, which gives $1.88M in 2 years ending August 2022. Assumption is that for additional 20 students, additional funding will be available, extending the two year’s time up to
August 2023.
DOS Response:
A1. The funding Amount is $2,448,000
The FAIT undergraduate and graduate fellowship program provides financial assistance towards covering: tuition/mandatory fees, room/ board, books, and travel between home and school.
Annual per fellow costs are limited to $47,500.
The funding amount for the 2020 NOFO is for the 2020 cohort of 20 fellows over the course of either their junior and senior years of undergraduate studies or two years of graduate studies.
This funding does not apply to additional FAIT fellows.
Per the NOFO, “Pending availability of funds in subsequent fiscal years and successful performance and implementation of these programs, HR/REE may renew the cooperative agreement for a period of two additional years. As each year adds new fellows to the program, applicants will need to demonstrate the ability to handle multiple years of cohorts.”
