Questions and Answers for Government of Mexico Canine Unit Evaluation and Mentoring Project
OFOP0001067
Date: May 23, 2023
Question #1:
We are looking for accreditations, courses, and diplomas in security for police elements.
Courses have already been taken with CALEA, and we are interested in what you offer.
Is there a way that we can work on the funding opportunity: Government of Mexico Canine Unit Evaluation and mentoring Project?
INL Response #1:
While we agree that a national accreditation would be useful, and an ideal goal in the long-term, the focus of this NOFO is solely to provide support to individual canine units that promotes sustainable, well-run facilities and programs. No accreditations, courses, or diplomas are envisioned for this award.
Question #2:
May you briefly explain what is it you would fund for this project? We will begin imprinting narcotics and explosives on canines relatively soon and they will be ready to work shortly after.
Is this something you all would be interested in?
INL Response #2:
INL Mexico already has in place mechanisms for procuring trained canines for donation. The focus of this project is to provide support to individual canine units that promotes sustainable, well-run facilities and programs. This award will not fund the purchasing of any canines, trained or otherwise.
