About this file

This document is a Request for Information (RFI) issued by the Florida Board of Governors to obtain information regarding the need for additional dentists in the state of Florida. The Board is seeking vendors to provide information on the current supply and demand for dentists, including the specific locations within the state where additional dentists may be needed. Vendors are asked to provide pricing and availability information for general dentists as well as specialty dentists such as endodontists, orthodontists, and periodontists. The Board is looking to award a single contract, with a tentative start date of July 1, 2024. Vendors are not required to submit actual resumes but can provide sample resumes, and remote work is acceptable. The Board is aiming to receive the results of the analysis by the end of calendar year 2024.

The Board has not set an estimated budget for this contract and is looking for vendors to provide cost estimates. There are no incumbents, as this will be the first time the Board has solicited a vendor for this type of study. The Board has indicated a preference for biweekly touchpoints, either by phone or email, with the selected vendor during the analysis.

Q23) Does the BOG have preferences related to the nature or frequency of touchpoints with the consulting partner while this analysis is being conducted?

Q24) What are the BOG’s expectations related to direct engagement between the consulting partner and the state universities referenced in the RFI (e.g., UF, FAMU, UCF, FAU) as a part of this analysis? To the extent that some of these universities may have evaluated similar questions to those in the RFI when developing their previous proposals to expand dental programs, would that information be made available?

A24) All the information from previous proposals from 2011 can be found on our website as part of presentations to the Board of Governors. Information on the FAU proposal can be found on their website. If we have additional information that might be helpful, we will share that as well.
