About this file

This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) file for a shipping container solicitation (Solicitation 24/25-34) issued by Indian River State College. The solicitation seeks 20-foot shipping containers that will be modified for use in the Public Safety Training Complex, specifically for training scenarios involving law enforcement, fire, emergency medical services, and emergency management. The containers are required to be Class A (new or "one-tripper") and will be painted flat gray or "battleship gray" to match existing structures. Detailed modifications include 23/32" to 3/4" plywood interior coverage, specific door and window opening dimensions (80" door height, 32" door width, 24"x24" window openings), and installation of protective angle iron around openings.

The bid requires a 120-working-day validity period, which cannot be reduced to 30 days due to monthly District Board of Trustees approval processes. Delivery will be to 4600 Kirby Loop Road at the Treasure Coast Public Safety Training Complex, with the college having equipment to unload and place the containers. No drywall is required, only plywood. The solicitation emphasizes precise specifications for container modifications, suggesting these structures will be used to simulate various building types for realistic training scenarios. The document indicates that potential bidders should refer to the full solicitation on Bidnet for complete details and requirements.

Answer: Bullet 1 Answer: Correct, one tripper or in excellent condition.

Bullet 2 Answer: Correct-A flat gray or “battleship gray” to match existing structures on our property.

Bullet 3 Answer: 23/32 to ¾ inch plywood on all interior surfaces. This is needed on the ceiling to attach any interior walls to the ceiling for stability.

Bullet 4 Answer: The height of the doors should be a standard height of 80” with a width of 32”. The size of the window opening should be 24”X 24”. The top of the window openings should be at 80”.

There are no actual doors or windows. Only openings. The openings should be protected by installing small angle iron around the cut openings to protect against injuries from the sharp or exposed edges.

On the exterior of the window and doors, we need small angle or channel iron installed on the top, bottom and one side. This is to allow us to close off doors and/or windows as needed. The provider should provide PTP or marine plywood cut for each opening.

Bullet 7 Answer: No. Only 23/32” OR ¾”. Only one layer of plywood.

Question: Drywall is mentioned, but it's not clear if drywall installation over the plywood is required.
