About this file
This document is a Questions and Answers (Q&A) document for the Lake Fire Alarm project issued by Denver Public Schools, specifically for Project C10384. The Q&A addresses three key technical questions from potential bidders regarding fire alarm system installation requirements, including conduit specifications, device protection, and wire gauge requirements. Specifically, the document clarifies that fire alarm system wire must be installed in Electrical Metallic Tubing (EMT), with the ability to reuse existing conduit and pull new wire, and that free-hanging fire alarm wire will not be accepted.
The technical specifications outline precise installation guidelines, such as wire guard requirements being limited to gymnasiums and locker rooms, and wire conductor specifications mandating 16-AWG for Initiating Device Circuits and Signaling Line Circuits, and 14-AWG for Notification Appliance Circuits. The Q&A was issued on 12/11/2024 and provides critical technical guidance for bidders to ensure compliance with Denver Public Schools' fire alarm system replacement standards at Lake Middle School, helping potential contractors understand the exact requirements for the project.
