About this file
This memorandum outlines requirements for a new steam tunnel at the Laundry Facility at West Point. The current steam tunnel, installed in 2003, has reached the end of its expected 20-year lifespan. A new steam tunnel is needed to maintain the laundry mission of processing clothing and linens for cadets and the Army medical center without disruptions.
The specifications for the new steam tunnel include side and top steaming of garments, a wire hanger conveyor system replicating the current layout, easily serviced or automatic lint screens, integral steam vent systems to reduce heating of the facility, a programmable control unit for temperature and steam flow, adjustable conveyor speed, a stainless interior to prevent rust transfer, and compatibility with existing electric, plumbing and steam systems. Installation must include removal and disposal of the current steam tunnel, installation of the new equipment, and connection to facility utilities. The selected vendor will also provide shipping, delivery, installation, start-up, demonstration, and a standard one-year parts and workmanship warranty.
This requirement aligns with federal contract opportunity W911SD-23-R-0180 for a new steam tunnel at the West Point Laundry Facility, issued by the Department of the Army Mission and Installation Contracting Command at Fort Eustis.
