About this file

This memorandum outlines requirements for a new steam tunnel at the Laundry Facility of the United States Military Academy at West Point. The current steam tunnel, installed in 2003, has reached the end of its expected 20-year lifespan and must be replaced to ensure continued laundering capabilities for cadets and medical facilities. The new steam tunnel must include side and top steaming functions, a wire hanger conveyor system replicating the current layout, easily serviced or automatic lint screens, integral steam venting on inlet and exit to reduce facility heating, programmable temperature and steam flow controls, adjustable conveyor speed, and a stainless steel interior. Vendors must conduct an on-site evaluation of the existing equipment and space, remove and dispose of the current steam tunnel while disconnecting all utilities, install the new steam tunnel connecting to facility electric, plumbing and steam, and provide a standard one-year parts and workmanship warranty. This requirement corresponds to federal contract opportunity W911SD-23-R-0180 for a new steam tunnel at the West Point Laundry Plant through the Department of the Army Mission and Installation Contracting Command at Fort Eustis.
