SPECIFIC TASKS: Assessment of Water Tower 1 Main Riser Fill Pipe

PART 1 – GENERAL

1.1 GENERAL: The Contractor shall provide all labor and resources, EXCEPT Government Furnished Property (GFP), necessary to assess Water Tower 1 main riser pipe on Fort Drum, NY in accordance with (IAW) these specific tasks and subject to the terms and conditions of the contract. The water tower was manufactured by CB&I and is a Hydropillar 1,000,000 Gallon Capacity welded water tank built in 2005-2006. The overall height is 196’-6 5/16”. The height to HWL is 186’ and the height to LWL is 146’. The tank diameter is 74’ and number and size of support columns are one (1) 52’ fluted pedestal. There is access to the inside with a ladder. All OSHA regulations apply for climbing and rigging. The main riser pipe has several leaks.

1.2 Assessment of Pipe: The Contractor shall assess the Main Riser pipe for deficiencies and provide the Government with a report detailing the deficiencies and repair recommendations.

1.2.1 The Contractor shall remove/peel back/ any insulation or pipe covering to perform assessment on the pipe. All insulation shall be reattached/reaffixed back upon completion of the inspection of that area.

1.2.2 The Contractor shall be certified in performing Ultrasonic Thickness (UT) readings and visual inspection of welded piping for water towers. The Contractor shall have 3-5 years’ experience inspecting water storage tanks used for potable or fire protection use.

1.2.3 The Contractor shall inspect approximately 140’ vertical riser main pipe and approximately 30’ horizontal riser main pipe.

1.2.4 The Contractor shall provide the earliest date that they can complete the assessment in their quote.
