About this file
This is a Performance Work Statement (PWS) for chrome plating services issued by Puget Sound Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility (PSNS & IMF). The contract requires the contractor to remove existing chrome plating and install new chrome plating on one (1) driven housing constructed of 17-4 PH CRES (corrosion-resistant stainless steel). Work shall be performed at the contractor's facility. This is a firm-fixed price contract with the government providing the driven housing component and the contractor responsible for furnishing all other supplies, equipment, facilities, transportation, tools, materials, supervision, and services necessary to complete the work.
The contractor must submit three key deliverables: (1) an Acceptance Test Report (CDRL A001) within five days of completion documenting hardness capability testing per ASTME 384-22 and SAE AMS 2460 Rev B Class 2 standards; and (2) Condition Found Reports (CDRL A002) detailing measurements of the cylinder inner diameter and total indicator runout in the as-received condition and again upon removal of existing chrome plating, submitted 48 hours prior to plating for government review. Final plating specifications require a minimum thickness of 0.002 inches and maximum of 0.025 inches, with final inner diameters of 7.976"/7.980" and surface finish of 8–16 roughness height rating per Sargent Controls Drawing 30900-1000 Rev E. The contract will be administered by a Contracting Officer Representative (COR) who will monitor technical performance and authorize technical direction within contract scope.
