The system shall be designed as a complete solution package for conventional and digital lens surfacing from lens blank to prescription finished product. The system shall accommodate high volume precision ophthalmic lens surfacing and shall be designed as a complete and fully automated system from process start to process completion.
The system shall consist of the following automated sub systems.
- Lens stock blank De-boxing system
- Lens Blocking system (Auto and Manual)
- Lens De-blocking system (Auto and Manual)
- Lens Generating system
- Lens Soft Polishing system
- Lens Engraving/Marking system
- Lens Washing system
- Lens Hard Coating system
- Fluid Management system with Micro Separator
- Conveyor with incorporated Tray Management System and accommodations for additional Generating and Edging systems
The sub-system's lens cutting and polishing machinery shall have the capabilities to accommodate the following working ranges required by a prescription:
· Lens generation
· Concave: milling up to a minus (-)14.5 diopter/turning up to a minus (-)30 diopters
· Convex: milling and turning up to a plus (+) 30 diopters
· Lens Soft polishing
· Concave: accommodate a base curve of 0 to minus (-)18 diopters
· Cylinder: accommodate 0 to plus (+) 6 diopters
· Accommodate any material lens blank in sizes of 48mm to 85mm The sub-system's blocking machinery shall use a non-hazardous adhesive to attach a block to the lenses.
The sub-system's engraving system shall not use excimer technology due to associated costs and maintenance.
The sub-system's hard coating system shall utilize preferred spin coating technology.
3.1 The complete system shall be capable of producing a minimum of 150 complete surface job orders per hour or 1200 jobs per 8-hour shift. To that end, no automated sub system shall process less than 150 jobs per hour either individually or as a multiple of total number of identical machines duplicating the same task with the exception of any manual machines utilized as needed if the automated version has rejected a job during its primary function or a coating not required for all lenses produced. The lens material mix for surfacing at NORA is approximately 40% polycarbonate, 50% plastic and 10% Hi Index lens formats.
3.1.2 The system shall be installed in the existing surface lab area. Total surface lab floor space measures 84"W x 107' L with approximate floor space available for system install is 72' W x 74' L x 9' 11' H (Available space can be adjusted slightly but remaining space is required for lens and frame stock, "Specials" Department machinery, and workstations. The Micro Separator and Fluid Management system shall be installed in existing external room directly adjacent to the surface lab with space requirements of 16' W x 14'L x 15' 9" H.
3.1.3 The system shall meet industry standard Optical Manufacturing Association (OMA) protocol communication for compatibility and seamless interface with our Lab Management System (LMS) by Optical Lab Software Solutions (OLSS) commercially known as Optuitive.
3.1.3 The system shall include all manufacturer warranties for the first year (12 months) post installation to include parts and labor. Onsite operator and equipment maintenance staff training shall be provided on all equipment to include equipment manuals.
3.1.5 Technical Phone Support shall be provided 0600-1800 EST Monday-Friday.
3.1.6 Technology umbrella coverage for software upgrades shall be included. Software shall be updated at the next scheduled preventive maintenance visit from the time the upgrade is released.
3.1.7 Available plans for proprietary repair or parts replacement on each machine shall be available for the lifecycle of the machines. A minimum of 5 years, to maintain throughput identified in para 3.1.
3.1.8 Contractor shall provide all installation personnel, technicians, and equipment necessary upon delivery for the installation, setup, and calibration of the system. Complete installation shall be turn-key and take no longer than 5 business days.
3.1.9 Contractor shall provide all equipment and personnel necessary to remove old equipment identified as SatisLoh brand and all existing conveyor identified as NCC brand. Removed equipment shall be relocated to an onsite staging area identified by the COR for disposition or trade-in allowance. Equipment designated for trade in allowance specified in quote.
Government shall remove all non-SatisLoh and NCC equipment and provide appropriate facility requirements for new equipment (appropriate power, air pressure, connectivity locations, etc.)
