PERFORMANCE WORK STATEMENT (PWS)
CalSim 3 Development
1.0 SCOPE
CalSim3 is the platform upon which the Long-Term Operations consultation will depend for analysis of CVP/SWP operations. Other planning studies are expected to migrate from CalSim2 to CalSim3 as well. The larger footprint of this tool requires a team effort for support, maintenance, and development.
1.2 BACKGROUND
CalSim3 uses land-use-based demands and other hydrology elements defined by physical models, including ET, evaporation, deep percolation, local loss factors, and groundwater. The high resolution of CalSim3 enables more control over local operations representation, but simultaneously requires a significant effort to prepare input data and verify that its implementation in CalSim3 is functioning as intended. Upper watershed models have been developed for multiple sub-basins – ongoing work to full buildout of these invaluable tools is needed.
