1.0 DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES

1.1 Objective(s): This Performance-based Work Statement (PWS) describes the services required to repair AN/AAQ-13 LANTIRN Navigation Pod Radar Pressurization Units. This performance based work specification establishes the work requirements necessary to comply with the quality levels or repair necessary to return the end item to a serviceable (not like new) condition. Repair of AN/AAQ-13 LANTIRN Navigation Pod pod Radar Pressurization Units

(NSN 5895-01-250-7263) shall be IAW applicable drawings and specifications. The contractor shall deliver repaired assets on time while observing accepted quality standards. These services also include providing on-time delivery of assets and submission of accurate data requirements to include providing timely and accurate reporting in CAVAF.

1.2 Benefit to United States Air Force (USAF): This acquisition will benefit the USAF by leading to an increase of war-fighter support though decreased backorders, MICAP hours and customer wait times.

1.3 Background: The LANTIRN Radar Pressurization Unit (RPU) was originally designed by

Texas Instruments. The RPU is an intregal component within the Terrain Follow Radar (TFR) section of the AN/AAQ-13 LANTIRN Navigation Pod. It’s function is to maintain a pressurized dry nitrogen environment in the radar set wave-guides and radome. The RPU stores dry nitrogen under high pressure (3000 Pound-Force per Square Inch Gauge (PSIG)) and delivers that nitrogen to the waveguides and radome under regulated pressure (19 +4/-1 PSIA). A high pres-sure charging valve allows the reservoir to be charged while it is installed in the navigation set. A reservoir safety relief valve prevents reservoir overcharging. The valve opens when reservoir pressure exceeds 4500±250 PSIG.
