Version 11-30-2016-1 FAR Part 11—Describing Agency Needs
PURCHASE DESCRIPTION
1. Statement of Need and Purpose: This acquisition is necessary to provide a single cell dispenser with multichannel fluorescence and high-resolution imager to the iPSC Neurodegenerative Diseases Initiative (INDI) Project within the new Center for Alzheimer’s Disease and Related Dementias.
2. Background Information and Objective: imaging technology improves to capture The single cell dispensing method is based on a unique microfluidics-based print technology that is as gentle as pipetting. The cell-containing microdroplets are dispensed slowly and delicately in the absence of any pressure, electric fields, or lasers observed in other technologies. The unique ability to screen cell populations by gating for size and roundness offers the potential to exclude imperfect non-viable cells that would or can cause inconsistent data and variances that would affect the research work related to the pathogenesis of neurodegenerative diseases. The multichannel imager software analysis determines accurately the confluence of each well, eliminating user subjectivity.
