Version 11-30-2016-1 FAR Part 11—Describing Agency Needs
PURCHASE DESCRIPTION
1. Statement of Need and Purpose: This requisition is to purchase 34 specified intermediate compounds in 5 g quantities with purity >95 %. These unique intermediates will be used to build an in-house PROTAC library for a wide variety of projects across the center. The intermediates need to be delivered in 5 g quantities within 4 weeks upon receipt of the purchase order.
The purpose of this acquisition is in accordance with the Public Health Emergency declaration made January 31, 2020 and the National Emergency declaration made March 13, 2020 in response to Coronavirus (COVID-19).
2. Background Information and Objective:
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) is the nation’s leading medical research agency and the primary Federal agency whose mission is to seek fundamental knowledge about the nature and behavior of living systems and the application of that knowledge to enhance health, lengthen life, and reduce illness and disability, conducting, supporting and making medical discoveries that improve people’s health and save lives.
The National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) is a part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), which mission is to catalyze the generation of innovative methods and technologies that will enhance the development, testing, and implementation of diagnostics and therapeutics across a wide range of human diseases and conditions.
Medicinal chemistry optimization is often an important exercise in our development of probe molecules to test the therapeutic hypothesis in disease models. The use of Proteolysis Targeting Chimeras (PROTAC) is a new modality in drug discovery and offers unique advantages over current small-molecule modalities for previously un-druggable biological targets. NCATS desires to build a PROTAC chemical toolbox that will be made widely available to multiple users across the center for many projects. These 34 key reagents are essential components to build this in-house PROTAC chemical toolbox with the designated COVID funds.
3. Generic Name of Product: 34 unique listed chemical reagents in 5 g qty with purity >95%
4. Purchase Description:
5. Salient characteristics:
• 5 g qty with purity >95% as characterized by mass spec and NMR data.
• All the compounds from this set must come from one source/laboratory where they are synthesized and characterized in the same fashion and similar environments.
