Purchase Description: Mitutoyo Roundness Form Measurement Machine
Scope:
The scope of this contact is to purchase a new form/roundness measurement machine, all the required hardware and fixtures needed to operate the machine, a workstation to run the software which will run the machine and collect data, and a monitor to display the software and interact with the workstation. It also includes freight costs, installation of the roundness machine, initial calibration of the roundness machine, and training on how to operate the roundness machine.
2. Roundness Machine Requirements
The roundness machine must be able to measure the features of the M11, T19, and T17 copper crusher pressure gauges. The drawings of these gauges will be provided and highlighted with the dimensions that are to be measured.
a. Hardware:
• The MMTB requires a Mitutoyo RA-1600/RA-1600M machine to perform these measurements. The specifications of the machine have been verified; and the size, available attachments, control, and chuck options will facilitate the measurement of the copper crusher pressure gauges. It is known that it will work.
• The MMTB does not have a lot of floor space so the roundness machine must be a tabletop unit.
• The roundness machine must have fully motorized/automated X and Z axes. It must have a rotational table that rotates on an air bearing.
• The roundness machine must have an automated centering and leveling mechanism. It must come with a method to calibrate a probe before use. It must have optional styli and probes available for various sizes and configurations for future measurement flexibility.
• The roundness machine must have a rotational radial accuracy of 0.05 µm or better and rotational axial accuracy of 0.03 µm or better for a cylinder that is 1.5” tall and 0.9” in diameter (rough M11 gauge size).
• Roundness machine must be able to, at a minimum., measure and calculate: roundness, parallelism (in/out), circular flatness, cylindricity, taper (in/out), total runout, perpendicularity, diameter, straightness, co-axiality, inclination, and concentricity. It also must be able to measure a partial circle.
• The machine must come with all probes and chucks needed to measure the features on the M11, T19, and T17 crusher pressure gauges. Highlighted drawings will be provided as an attachment.
• The machine must come with an air regulator and dryer appropriate for a precision instrument of this type. Able to feed and protect the air line that will power the air bearing.
• The machine must come with a Dell PC that will run the software that will control the machine, collect the data, and perform the measurements and calculations.
• The machine must come with a Dell 24” monitor that will be used with the PC.
b. Software:
The roundness tester must come with software that is able to control the machine, create routines, perform the measurements, collect the data, and save/output the results.
c. Installation and Training
• Installation and Training must be provided onsite (Building 400)
d. Experience
• The instrument that is purchased must be from a company that has supplied and sold roundness machines for at least 5 years.
• The vendor must be able to provide a yearly maintenance and calibration service to the machine.
DELIVRY: 60 Days After Contract Award
3. Place of Performance / Delivery
The roundness machine will reside in the MMTB lab located in Room 118 of building 400, APG, MD.
The contractor shall travel to the site to install the equipment. The shipping costs to get all hardware/items to the place of performance shall be included in the contact.
