About this file
This is a Purchase Description for a Formlabs Fuse 1+ 30W SLS 3D printer prepared by the RAPID Innovation Center at Hill AFB, Utah, dated March 5, 2026, with Rulon Stitzer (809 MXSS/MXDTAD) identified as the point of contact.
The RAPID Innovation Center requires one Formlabs Fuse 1+ 30W SLS 3D printer to produce flexible thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) parts for customers. The current constraint of using slow, unreliable fused deposition modeling (FDM) printers for TPU—one of the most commonly requested materials—necessitates this purchase of a dedicated, compact, reliable, and user-friendly TPU SLS printer. The printer must meet specific technical specifications including SLS additive manufacturing method, TPU 90A material compatibility, 120 VAC 15A power requirements, dimensions of 25.4 x 27.0 x 42.0 inches, build volume of 6.5 x 6.5 x 11.8 inches, 110-micron layer thickness, Class 1 Fiber laser at 30W, 0.79 inch per hour build speed, automated powder dispensing system with up to 70% material reusability, Wi-Fi/Ethernet/USB connectivity, and sound emission below 79.5 dB.
The procurement includes the Fuse 1+ 30W Starter Package (PKG-FS1-30-ST-120V) with printer and build chamber, depowdering kit workspace and tools, sifter with 150 sieve, powder cartridge, additional build chamber, powder cartridge, Fuse Sift unit, industrial vacuum, printer stand, and 6 kg of TPU 90A powder. The contractor must provide all required software for slicing, uploading, and operating the machine including post-processing capabilities. A 5-year Formlabs Fuse Series Complete Service Plan (SVC-FS1SCPL-60) is required, providing annual preventative checkups, remote support, onsite support/repairs within five business days, and free replacement parts and shipping. Delivery is to be made to Rulon Stitzer at 5925 Southgate Ave., Building 205, Room 022, Hill AFB, UT 84056, with electronic delivery to rulon.stitzer@us.af.mil.
