Purchase Description

1. Background:

The 7 AF Munitions Division facilitates and resource units to perform a large outship of ISOs containers semi-annually. ISOs must be weighed, and data submitted to 7 AF and 837 TRANS for shipment manifest and pre-coordination for load prior to vessel arrival. The reasoning being is that ISOs must be weighed for load position and safety of the vessel during transport. This requirement is unique to the 8 FW, 51FW, and 607 ASOG that conduct ISO operations.

Current weight operations require 6 personnel, four identical scales and a level 50x50 ft location. The process can take up to 1.5 hours to accomplish the weighing of one container. Any differences in height or increments in the scales will cause the weight to be incorrect. If container weight is incorrect, it will be denied shipment at the port and waste countless dollars in transportation contracting costs and vessel space.

New system will remove transportation requirement for flat surface, decrease required ops time per container from 1.5 hrs to 10 min, and decrease manning requirement 80% (6 1). Additionally, a test bed with 8 MXS was established in Jul 2023 confirming the cost benefits with recommendation for a pen-wide usage.

“C-Jack” is an only four-jack scale system which eliminates any differences in height or increments in the scale for 50*50 ft location, large ISOs.
