About this file

This document is a Purchase Approval Letter from the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) authorizing the procurement of communication and computer equipment and software for various mission systems and networks. The letter provides the necessary approval and authorizes the purchase of hardware and software for systems such as the Specialized and Automated Mission Suite (SAMS), Electronic Flight Bag (EFB), and AFSOC's Amazon Web Service (AWS) Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) instance. The approval includes caveats to ensure the purchased items are on a DoD approval listing, the RMF package is updated, and the items are not used on the NIPRnet or SIPRnet without prior approval. The letter references a previously signed authority memo that grants the AFSOC SOACS/CC the authority to make these approvals. The document also includes a related federal contract opportunity for a Cisco ISE Server Installation at Cannon Air Force Base, which requires a Brand Name Justification for the use of Cisco products due to their integration into the federal network and criticality for personnel login, certificate management, and remote device configuration.

2. The authority for the AFSOC SOACS/CC to make these approvals comes from the “Comm

Approval Authorization to Proceed with Purchases for the 492 SOACS Command and Control

3. Purchase or procurement of these titles or items are needed to fulfill valid requirements and are approved with the following caveats, and are approved in accordance with the previously mentioned authority memo:

a. Ensure that software and/or hardware purchased is on a DoD approval listing, IAM has attached a no-impact memorandum, or it is a single license or item for evaluation and testing purposes only.

b. Ensure the RMF package is updated, as required.

c. Ensure these items are not used on the NIPRnet or SIPRNet without prior approval from the local Communication Squadron, nor subject to data center reporting requirements via AFSOC/A6X.
