About this file
This document is a Notice of Intended Decision to Enter into a Single Source Contract (PUR 7778) issued by the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT). The notice indicates that FDOT intends to enter into a single source contract with Coastal Construction Products for the procurement of silicone sealants used in the maintenance of bridges. The sealants are required for FDOT's daily maintenance activities to repair bridge roadways and areas around bridges. FDOT has determined that Coastal Construction Products is the sole authorized provider for the specific DOWSIL silicone pavement sealants and SSI XJS Joint System required in the State of Florida.
The contract has an estimated value of $350,000. FDOT has justified the single source acquisition, stating that the quality of the Coastal Construction Products sealants is superior to other options used in the past, and that FDOT has invested heavily in equipment necessary to make the required repairs, making the use of the correct sealants an essential part of maintaining this equipment.
