About this file

This document is a Description of Intended Single Source Purchase (PUR 7776) issued by the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC). The FDC is seeking to purchase a computer security service to monitor FDC offenders on probation, parole, and pre-trial release. The service is intended to be a five-year (60 month) contract with RemoteCOM, a technology monitoring company that provides an active internal monitoring component. RemoteCOM is the only known vendor that can meet the Department's needs at this time. The intended purchase has an estimated dollar amount of $133,250.00 for the five-year term.

The FDC will rely on RemoteCOM personnel to actively monitor, research any inappropriate activity based on customizable and established offender protocols, and notify the supervising officer of any issues or concerns requiring additional investigation. The FDC benefits from utilizing RemoteCOM by increasing public safety, offender compliance, reducing time spent monitoring devices, and providing cost savings.

The Office of Community Corrections supervises over 6,000 sex offenders on probation or in supervised release programs. Most sex offenders have conditions that include no pornography, no victim contact, no contact with minors, and no access to the internet. Remote Computer

Observation and Monitoring (RemoteCOM) will provide the FDC's Correctional Probation

RemoteCOM personnel to actively monitor, research any inappropriate activity based on customizable and established offender protocols, and notify the supervising officer of any issues or concerns requiring additional investigation. The FDC benefits from utilizing RemoteCOM by increasing public safety, offender compliance, reducing time spent monitoring devices, and providing cost savings.
