About this file

This document is a Description of Intended Single Source Purchase (Form PUR 7776) from the Florida Department of Correction (FDC) for the procurement of Leveled, Accessible, Smartboard Compatible Education Software for its correctional institutions. The FDC is seeking to purchase a three-year term (36 months) license for educational software that aligns with state standards and provides interactive content, activities, and assessments to support inmate education and re-entry programs. The FDC has identified Boardworks K-12 curriculum content resources from BK Interactive, LLC as the sole source for this software, as it is the only product that meets the department's technical and functional requirements. The estimated dollar amount for this three-year contract is $319,500.

The FDC has determined that Boardworks software is the only product that provides the necessary features, including a lifetime license without subscription or update fees, compatibility with the department's smartboards and computers, and a comprehensive curriculum covering core academic subjects. BK Interactive, LLC is the sole provider of Boardworks software and does not sell directly to resellers, making them the only vendor capable of supplying this solution to the FDC. The procurement is subject to the requirements of Sections 120.57(3) and 287.057(3) of the Florida Statutes regarding single-source acquisitions.

Boardworks K-12 curriculum content resources are aligned to State standards and codes. The

FDC currently uses offline Boardworks Instructional Materials to provide supplemental education services in classrooms at Title I sites. Boardworks software is the only product that meets our need for leveled, accessible, smartboard compatible software because there are no comparable products available from other vendors. Additionally, the Boardworks K-12 curriculum is the only product with a lifetime license that doesn't require a subscription or update fees. This software is compatible with the smartboard and new computers utilized by the inmates education programs at the institutions. Boardworks is an offline resource containing a wealth of rigorous, focused lessons that include interactive activities, games, quizzes, and real-world problems to motivate and engage inmates fully. The software provides individual student interactive practice and prepares inmates for TABE testing, GED exams, and transitional resources to enter the workforce and post-secondary education after release.
