Intended Single Source:

Approximate Contract Amount: $246,390.00
Justification for single source acquisition (what is necessary and unique about the product, service or source; steps taken to confirm unavailability of competition, as appropriate):
The Marsh Master, a tracked amphibious vehicle, will allow improved access in areas where other equipment cannot reach. In particular, the Marsh Master is a low ground pressure vehicle that will improve access to tidal/salt marsh and upland/marsh interfaces with minimum damage to natural resources. The onboard fire suppression package and mower attachment will allow for the establishment of fire containment lines for prescribed burning, wildfire suppression, and support prescribed fire operations in the difficult to manage wet prairie community. An internet search was conducted to see if there were comparable amphibious vehicles to the Marsh Master. The other brands discovered did not have the implement flexibility of the Marsh Master required for Fire Suppression or resource management in state parks, so you would need to have multiple vehicles (one machine to mow, and one machine for fire suppression), which would not be practical.
Approved By (names & titles, as appropriate, e.g., requestor, requestor management, information systems, budget, purchasing):
John Stys, Assistant Director of Forestry Earl Seargroves, Operations & Mgmt. Consultant Stephanie Bergozza, Purchasing Director II, Division of Administration Joey B. Hicks, Director, Division of Administration
