About this file
This document is a Notice of Intended Decision to Enter into a Single Source Contract (PUR 7778) posted by the Florida Department of Children and Families. The Department intends to implement innovative and data-proven training techniques for simulation training in child welfare. The vendor will be required to build custom simulations, work with subject matter experts, and integrate the simulations into a curriculum redesign. This pre-service training aims to prepare trainees for the reality of child welfare work by providing real-life experiences and a safe environment to learn.
The Department has determined that the REAL Academy is the only vendor that can meet the specific needs, which include offering custom, user-configurable child welfare simulations, technical assistance to implement simulation-based training into the existing curriculum, and a Learning Management System to bridge practice gaps and provide continuing education credits. The vendor must have access to certain proprietary decision-making tools, the capacity to work alongside the Department's instructional designers to create custom simulations, and the ability to provide statewide, in-person training and technical assistance. The contract has an available funding of $1,000,000, with $250,000 from the Office of Child and Family Well-Being for the pilot phase and $750,000 from the Florida Institute for Child Welfare for the full implementation.
