About this file
This document is a Description of Intended Single Source Purchase (PUR 7776) issued by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV). The purpose of this project is to add Radio Frequency (RF) coax panels, video switcher, and replacement or reinstallation of communications equipment that was previously removed from Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) buses during remodeling. The project includes all equipment, labor, shipping, and handling. Williams Communications, Inc. is identified as the sole source provider for this project, as the original installer of the Harris and Catalyst Communications equipment in the FHP buses, the authorized servicing dealer for the Harris radios, and a certified maintenance provider for the Catalyst Communications systems. The estimated dollar amount for this single source purchase is $60,000.00. The justification provided is that Williams Communications, Inc. has the unique skills, knowledge, and proprietary information about the communications equipment and its custom installation in the FHP buses, and is the only vendor that can provide the required re-installation services.
